Ok so I just realized I have gotten a little crazy with all the DIY stuff lately. But it has all worked out great, which is why I’m unstoppable, and I am here to tell you about DIY lotion!
My cute sister-in-law recently told me about coconut oil. She explained that if I whipped it up with my mixer, it would turn into lotion AND that it would double in size. Huh? That sounded WAY too easy. She suggested that I try it on Moo’s eczema since it was all natural and great for the skin. I figured it was definitely worth a shot since it would be cheaper than buying Moo’s prescription lotion or even her Aveeno baby. So I ended up with this jar of Spectrum Coconut Oil.
When I opened the jar, the oil was surprisingly stiff and not very “oily” as I guessed it would be. But I went along with the plan. I spooned half of it into my mixing bowl, and mixed it for 7 minutes.
It does tend to be a little greasy but Moo’s skin soaks it right up. (Very similar to baby oil) It works just as well as other lotions for her eczema, and I have been putting it on her head at bed time and it has significantly helped her cradle cap.
I hear there are lots of benefits to using coconut oil. Please share ideas with me in the comment section below!
*Also, does anyone know what causes eczema? No one in our family has it and I can only come up with one conclusion as to why Moo has it…Y’all ready for this?
That picture was taken the day before I went into labor with Moo. (I’m sure you’re thinking that I should be the one called, “Moo”) But I had an excessive amount of fluid during my pregnancy which is called Polyhydramnios. Now I’m no doctor, but did she get used to all the fluid and now her skin is constantly in search of moisturizer? Just a thought.
